Road No. 5 Golden Sands is now named — 25.05.2013

The newest street name for Golden Sands has been confirmed. Street number 5 is now named Raiha Street after Ngati Pikiao and Te Arawa Kaumatua Eliza Raiha Serjeant of Maketu. Mrs Serjeant was awarded the Queens Service Medal (QSM) for community service in 1995. Mrs Serjeant had a long history of service to the community as a trustee on many boards and was a member of the Maori Womans Welfare League since 1952. She was involved with Maori housing, farming, was an expert genealogist and a recognised authority on Whakapapa in her hapu and iwi. We are pleased to be able to honour her with the naming of this street.
